On Friday 13th February, Past Master Julian Hill, standing in for the Master, Jonathan Spence DL, judged the school’s annual Poetry Slam competition alongside one of the school’s pupils and the Headteacher, Robyn Bruce.

Pupils from Year 1 to Year 6 took part, reciting and performing poems many had written themselves, in front of the whole school and visiting parents. Judges assessed each participant’s performance and gave them on-the-spot, inciteful feedback. With only one overall winner chosen, the competition was fierce!

With no prior warning, Past Master Julian Hill was asked to recite a poem and chose ‘Ozymandius’, which had the audience spellbound.

The Poetry Slam showcased the talent, oracy skills and creativity of all those pupils who took part, and we look forward to next year’s event.
