The Company supports a range of charities which link to its objective of supporting young people through education and skills, particularly in STEM areas. The Company also upholds its connection to the City, seen in its support of City-based charities and educational establishments. 

Donations

One-off donations

A one-off donation is usually a smaller sum than a three-year grant. We have, for example, made donations to children’s and young people’s charities, and for the benefit of people within the City of London.


Three-year donations

Longer-term funding is provided to selected organisations that meet all our priorities. In the third and final year of the funding cycle, grants are subject to review by the Education and Charity Committee.

Donations 2023-24

The Benevolent Fund receives many appeals for charitable donations, which are carefully considered. We try to reply to each request, even if we cannot help because the charity’s activities are outside our current priorities.

If the charity’s work accords with our strategy, the appeal is considered by our Education and Charity Committee. The Committee may then decide to award a one-off donation or a three-year grant. The Education and Charity Committee meetings take place quarterly.
